Norway

February – May 2019

At some points we managed to visit Norway by crossing the border from Finland by car. It did not give too much time to visit many of the places around, but those small visits were totally worth it. I will always remember that one trip, crossing from the Finnish border, when we went to swim in the Arctic Ocean after sauna. That was an unforgettable experience.

In February 2019 I had the chance to move to Ålesund for approximately 4 months, a beautiful little city that I never expected to be so impressed by. During those months I tried to travel as much as I could. It was a beautiful experience, and I will never forget all the people I met during my stay there.

Here are some of the most exciting moments I lived in Norway!

Tromsø roadtrip

February 2019

One of the most “koselig” cities and surroundings I have visited in Norway. In only a couple of days we visited the city and also made a road trip around the region.

It was a surprise when we just figured out during the trip that during our stay a very interesting event was taking place: The Sami Week. The Sami People’s day – 6th of February – commemorates the first meeting that brought Sami people together from North and South and from Norway and Sweden. It took place in Trondheim in 1917. The day has become an official flag day, and in Tromsø it has grown into an annual manifestation of Sami culture, which lasts for an entire week, when the Norwegian Championship of Reindeer Racing takes place : )

A day at Godøya

All the little islands surrounding Ålesund are connected between each other by underground tunnels. A common island to visit is Godøya. We did go there a couple of times to hike when the weather was good enough. Some people even went there to surf. These are some pictures from the first time I visited the island.

Steigen – a cabin for a break

March 2019

I was super lucky to get invited to a cabin in Steigen, north of Norway, an area nearby Lofoten. There I met an old friend, and I made new and fun Norwegian friends. We hiked and visited nearby islands during that weekend, and I even got to try the region’s well known Møsbrømlefse.

Southern Norway

April 2019

During my last months in Norway we travelled to the south. In one trip we spent a weekend in Bergen. Finally, we made a road trip during the Easter holidays to Preikestolen and back, camping along the way.
